The reasons for children and their parent being happy and satisfied

1) 90% of our foreign teachers stay long-term employees. There is hardly any replacement of teachers within the school year. The administrative manager is highly experienced and is always there to give assistance. She holds a nursery

2) Each individual subject in the curriculum is taught by the teacher with the aptitude in that area of study. The teachers enjoy teaching it as it’s their specialty. To be able to utilize their ability to the fullest will lead to improvement of their individual skills.

3) A happy teacher will have a happy student. This in turn will make the parents happy!

The Basis of Thinking behind the Curriculum

As our teachers don’t change often, our personalized curriculum gets revised on a yearly basis. By reviewing and making improvements, we can set long-term goals for the K1 – K3 class by incorporating a variety of ideas along with respecting the international perspective of the instructors. We use self-developed study materials as well as carefully selected textbooks to incorporate in our personalized program in order to stimulate the children through a variety of approaches. The aim is to develop natural English communication skills by laying the foundation for English through daily conversation, phonics, developing familiarity with words based on class and themes which will enable conversation skills.

Show & Tell

Every morning for ‘Show & Tell’ the children bring something from their home to show and tell in front of everyone. By talking about why they chose the item, why they like it etc., to other people, helps the children in developing their presentation skills. The Show & Tell is done is front of all the classes irrespective of the age groups providing a learning opportunity for everyone.

How do the things around us work? Our monthly themed lessons are filled with various activities to help increase our knowledge of the world around us as well as build on all our current skills. Vocabulary is increased using themed flashcards; songs are used to revise work, experiments to test our understanding and worksheets to boost both our knowledge and fine motor-skills.

Math class focuses not only on learning numbers but also in understanding the concepts of addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. The class makes use of Indian-style mathematics for calculations and aims to train the thinking mind.

The theme for Art class is ‘the joy of creating’. By using different types of materials, we create different variety of artworks. The joy of making something with your own two hands will lead to development of self-confidence. Every month we make different artwork based on a theme. We also hold an exhibition to display all the artwork made throughout the year.

In computer class, we mainly conduct our lessons using Microsoft Word and Paint. It focuses on developing basic typing and drawing skills along with various commands that help not only in developing motor skills but also becoming efficient in computer skills.

Every Wednesday we have a Gym lesson. We do stretching and move our body to music. Every summer, we also conduct swimming lesson at the Sports Centre. At the kindergarten, we also do pool time during summer time.

Social Studies

Social Studies aims to teach various self-help skills such as folding clothes, making a bow, brushing teeth etc., along with learning the importance of manners, good habits and do’s and don’ts of society. It also focuses on world geography- learning about the continents, maps and different countries and their cultures. By using flashcards, songs and crafts children can learn about the rules of society as well as learn about the world in general.

In music class we sing and dance. Special attention is given to rhythm and hand bell study. Every season we introduce new songs that relate to the time of year.

ESL is English as a Second Language. The aim is to develop English language skill by focusing on reading, writing and speaking. Flashcards, storybooks and songs are used as learning aid. The class also focuses on overcoming individual weaknesses to enable strengthening of skills.

Japanese Lesson and Mannerism

One of our Japanese licensed Nursery teachers teaches the class using traditional methods used in a nursery such as finger-hand play, picture-story show and origami. The lesson is taught using textbooks for Katakana and Hiragana. We also practice basic Japanese mannerism for greetings.
