１）My child is still on diaper. Can we still enroll？
Once the child gets used to the school, together with the support of the school and home we can assist with the toilet training.
２） Both parents can't speak English. Is that okay？
It’s perfectly okay. For those who are interested in learning English, we have weekly Mama class to help with developing English communication skills.
３） Do they go outside to play？
We go to the park or to play outdoors almost every day. During summertime, we utilize the 1st Floor Play area for pool time and water play. From May to July, with cooperation from the swimming school we hold swimming classes every Wednesday.
４）What is the teacher to child ratio？
For Pre-school to K1 class, we have 2 teachers for a class of 10 students. From K2 there is 1class teacher. All the teachers are foreigners.
５）It's a first time schooling experience. The child might cry, is that okay？
Almost all children take time to get use to the school. If you start with the Baby Mama class where parents can attend the class with their child and then move up to Pre-school makes a smoother transition. But as we do have licensed nursery and kindergarten teachers at the school so please feel assured.
６）My child cannot eat by him/her self. What do you do about lunch time?
We will help with the eating as much as needed until the child is able to eat by him/her self. The teachers are with the children during lunch time and are eating alongside the children. We make sure that the children are enjoying their lunch time.
７） Does the school lunch cater to allergies and religious food restrictions?
Before enrollment, the nutritionist and the school nurse make an assessment of the allergies and religious food restrictions and alter the lunch menu accordingly. In case there are too many allergy and restricted items, we might request for homemade lunch.
８）I will be going back to my hometown to give birth, but will return in a month. What to do?
Please kindly inform the reception once you finalize the dates. In case of leave of one month, concession can be given on the monthly fee.
９） Can we allot a set time for the bus service?
We have quite a few number of students that utilize the bus service. In case you need to allot a set time, additional charges will be applied.
１０） Is there extension care？
For Pre-school and Kindergarten, Extension care is available till 3:00p.m. In case there is vacancy in the Afternoon class, you can utilize that in which case extension till 6:00 p.m. is possible. Please inform us about extension at your earliest convenience.
１）We were taking classes elsewhere, but we didn't see any improvements. Why?
30 to 60 minute class per week isn’t enough. A lot of the students come to us to seek further strengthening of their skills. English requires substantial time. The amount of time needs to be increased.
２）I can only send my child once a week. Will there be a skill difference depending on the number of days attended?
Even with once a week class, there is still 3 hours of study time. Once the child shows some interest it is ideal to increase the number of class days. But even with once a week, 3 hour class, the amount of hours is ample. In case of preparing for an entrance exam twice or more classes per week is recommended. Depending on the number of hours, the class itself levels up, which shows a big improvement overall.
For instance: 1 month once a week x 3 hours with 4 classes per month adds up to12 hours whereas 1 month 3 times a week x 3 hours with 4 classes per month adds up to 36 hours
３）I think there are too many national holidays that falls on a Monday. What will happen to the monthly fee？
While making our yearly schedule, we make sure that there is equal number of classes on each day. In case there are too many national holidays on that day, we have a ‘Special Make-up class’ which can be utilized in such case. It’s different from our regular make-up class as it’s a system to balance out the number of class in a given year.
４）Is there a make-up system for absence？
We do have a make-up system. Depending on the number of classes per week, the number of make-up classes varies.
５）What is the school’s system for the parents to be informed about the progress and level of their child?
We have Observation class twice a year, Parent-teacher conference once a year and an academic report handed out 3 times a year.
６）Is it possible to utilize the bus service？
Priority is given to students who are already utilizing the bus service. Please consult with us at the time of enrollment. In case we have a bus stop in your neighborhood, we might set your bus stop at our current bus stop. We do try our best to set the bus stops as closer to your home as possible.
７）What if we can’t take part in the Summer School？
As mentioned in the school’s application form and pamphlet, in case of inability to take part in the Summer School, you will be charged 10,000 yen as facility maintenance fee or you can apply for private lesson during the summer.
８）I want my child to try for the Eiken examination. Is there any Eiken specific class?
We have special preparatory class for Grade Pre-1 Eiken. Beside that we have private classes to meet the needs of individual students. Even if you continue with Group lesson you can still prepare for the Grade 2 Eiken.
９）We are considering giving entrance exam for middle school. How do you maintain your English proficiency level?
It depends on which middle school you want to give the entrance exam for, but in case of aiming for the big name schools, it is recommended that you focus on learning English till Grade 4 (preferable twice or more classes per week). It has been mostly observed that from Grade 5 you focus on preparing for the entrance exam and resume English once the exams are over. As English becomes a compulsory subject in middle school, lots of the students go to cram school along with English classes. Even students who have lived abroad, in order to increase the time they are exposed to English, they join the English classes. Some students even continue after entering senior high school. After passing the Eiken, for studying abroad and university entrance exams having a high TOEIC、TOEFL score becomes a necessary requirement.
※We also hold consultation regarding entrance exams based on our previous experiences with our students.
１０）I want my child to commute directly from school but as I worry about him/her, would it be advisable to provide the child with a cell phone?
We have a check-in system. At the time of enrollment we ask everyone to provide theirchild with an IC card (PASMO, Nanaco etc.,) At the time of entering and exiting the school premises, we require each student to swipe the card over our card reader which then sends an email to the parents that their child has safely reached the school or left the school. It has proved very useful especially for student's utilizing the bus service.
１１）For snack time, what kind of snacks does everyone bring? Is bringing drinks required?
It depends on how much you personally would like to bring as your snack. But it is advised that the snack should be something that can be eaten within 15 minutes. The children highly enjoy snack time and like to exchange snacks with each other so in case of any allergies please inform us beforehand. We also have snacks available for 100 yen in case the children forget to bring their snack. As each lesson is 3 hours long, please send a water bottle or a drink.
